Addon concept: Packing/grouping addons (icons) into drop-down menus

Instead of just one endless strung along flat line, this would save a great deal of space.
So…
Just occurred to me, with so much horizontal real estate occupied by dozens() of add-on icons.
Perhaps many could find such an add-on useful.
For those of us with, well, a bit too many installed,
an meta add-on could allow custom grouping into just a few drop down menus.

Maybe a foolish idea. shrug.

Regrets if this post flies in the face of some rules, not my intent.
Just delete if that’s the case. (if there is a better/proper sub-forum for ideas, i must be blind and didn’t see it)

Or instead, hope someone finds this to be a good idea.
Thanks for your time/attention.

Hey @Societyfailed

No rules broken here, it’s a good place to share ideas!

While we don’t have a fully flexible add-on grouping mechanism right now, from Firefox 109 forward, there’s new Unified Extensions Button (Extensions button and how to handle permissions in Manifest V3 - Mozilla Add-ons Community Blog) that will group all the extensions that have not been pinned to toolbar, into a dropdown menu.

That way you’ll be able to keep only the ones you interact with most in your toolbar while having access to everything inside a dropdown.
