Clarification on this article

Working on improving the Firefox Enterprise documentation on the SUMO KB. Want to make an article to explain how to deploy Firefox ESR with automatic extensions, so I’ve looked at the Including extensions with your distribution of Firefox article with the hope of creating a fresh copy of that article on SUMO. However, I’ve tried the steps outlined in that article and it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried storing an add-on XPI file in that directory. I’ve also tried packing it into the Firefox installer EXE, but that didn’t work either.

Is there someone who can provide some clarification on how to do this so that I can create the appropriate documentation on SUMO because this is a common topic in enterprise environments? Thanks in advance.

Wow, that article is really old. If anyone knows how to do this currently, they are probably on the Enterprise mailing list. @sheppy, @mkaply, any other suggestions for Wesley?

Oh, thanks for the reply. I actually figured it out. The MDN article had a few details missing.

We need to start looking for devmo articles that should just be removed and placed on SUMO.

It sounds like that’s what @ComputerWhiz is doing, correct?

Richard wrote some articles on this quite recently: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Alternative_distribution_options/Add-ons_in_the_enterprise which I hope will be helpful.

Correct. SUMO’s collection of Enterprise articles is pretty small.
