Extension disabled by Mozilla immediately after submission — no review history, no explanation

Hello,

I submitted a new extension to AMO yesterday (April 22, 2026) and it was
almost immediately shown as “Disabled by Mozilla”. There is no review
history, no rejection email, and no explanation provided in the developer
dashboard.

Extension details:

  • Name: GuardAI – AI Data Leak Prevention
  • Gecko ID: guardai@guardai.com
  • Manifest Version: 3
  • Submission type: Listed (public)

What the extension does:
It is a real-time data leak prevention tool that monitors user input on
AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) and blocks sensitive information
(API keys, PII, credentials) before it reaches the AI service. All
detection is performed locally in the browser — no data is sent to any
external server.

What I have already done:

  • Fixed the “invalid file name” error (backslash path separator in ZIP)
  • Added the required data_collection_permissions field to the manifest
  • The automated validator showed no errors after the final submission

My questions:

  1. What typically causes an extension to be “Disabled by Mozilla”
immediately with no review history or notification?
  2. Is there a way to see the specific reason for the automatic disabling?
  3. Should I resubmit as a new extension, or appeal the current submission?

I have checked the Add-on Policies and believe the extension is fully
compliant. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi there, and thanks for reaching out! This is Christos from the add-ons team!

Can you please confirm that you didn’t receive an email from Mozilla about disabling the add-on? Usually, in cases like this, there is an email with a link to appeal our decision. Please double-check and if you don’t have it, I can open an appeal for you and investigate why you didn’t receive an email.

Thank you!
