I use firefox 39. firefox.pdf no longer works, and I loved that add-on. What do I need to do to use the add-on / extension?
Does the developer know there is a problem?

Are you talking about [this add-on?](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pdfjs/) Firefox has been having built-in support PDF display support (based on that add-on) for a while. Just uninstall it and you should be fine.
