Fixed IP address for WiFi

I think I am about to ask a foolish question, but……
On the Network screen I can choose Ethernet or Wifi. If I choose Ethernet I can set a fixed IP address, but if I choose Wifi, I don’t have that possibility. Why not? Is it because we presume that wifi devices are portable and might therefore be moved onto a different network?
Is there a workaround?

That’s a really good point. I’ve opened an issue for it.

As a workaround, you’d have to configure things on the command line. Instructions are available here.

That is indeed a really good point. I don’t really know why I haven’t realised this before…
