Test B2GOS on Nexus 5

(Erable) #1

this message follows this post: https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/how-to-build-pine-and-m-c-please-read/9343/11

Currently, the interface is very lightweight and still missing a lot of functionality to make it suitable for everyday wear. For example, I haven’t received SMS (send by me from another phone).

Works :

  • Call
  • Receive a call
  • browse the web
  • Wireless
  • Data (tested 4G)
  • screenshots

Don’t works (or impossible to test it) :

  • bluetooth (discoverable but failed to pairing ?!)
  • camera (no app)

home page :

If you want to test it for nexus 5 (provided “as is” without warranty) :

Blobfree (install with B2G Installer) :

ROM :

To install it, you can use (examples) :

Since it’s Nexus 5, might be worth mentioning Multirom. It would allow more of us to test without losing data

(Erable) #3

This ROM doesn’t alter data, but the first time I tested it without wipe, I had problems with UI (configuration files have changed?).

(Borisbudini) #4

Indeed.
(As far as i remember, yes, they changed)

(Sai Karthik Karra) #5

Can you access the contacts ?

(Lissyx) #6

Thanks for the ROM but please avoid redistributing non free content. We have blobfree support and a Firefox Addon to install them for that purpose https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/B2G_OS/Building#Building_a_blob_free_full_system_zip

(Erable) #7

contacts is currently not available. See : http://mozilla-b2g.github.io/gaia/

Thank you for the link.
I just created this file, but I don’t have time to test it (perhaps this week). Here is the link if there are people who want to test it with B2G Installer: http://b2gos.resydev.fr/b2gos-master-2016-06-21-hammerhead-blobfree-dist~dr.zip

please add your builds to the B2G Installer

(Erable) #11

Why not. how should I do it ?

(Lissyx) #12

(Erable) #13

OK.
Effectively, This is not difficult to do this.

but there is an advantage to do that now? It’s not too early (missing contacts, SMS, calendar, …)?

(Lissyx) #14

Makes it easier for everyone.

(Erable) #15

ok. I’ll try to do that.

(Thatoo) #16

Great, thank you guys to work on that phone.

(Jean Marc Grimaud) #17

Hi guys,
I would like to know the status concerning B2G support on Nexus5, because I have some issues.
My goal is to build from source an image.
I followed the explanations from

git clone git://github.com/mozilla-b2g/B2G.git && cd B2G
./config.sh nexus-5-l
./build.sh

Then, I encountered some issues with flash.sh, so I flash the images manually:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash system system.img

When I reboot my Nexus 5, it seems to work but…

As soon as I go through settings menu, When I click somewhere, my screen becomes black and I have the following message in the logcat:
--------- beginning of main
