FAQ: How do I read MDN in English?

When I use MDN link shown in google search results, it is always annoying to see page displayed in Polish. Most of translated pages are very outdated, missing 90% of the text or are written in english while missing some pieces.
Plugin solution doesn’t exist on Chrome, Language preference cookie solution never pops up, while changing search settings of Accept-Language header would affect rest of the searches too.
Would it be possible to create a feature on developer.mozilla.org, that would make redirections to English be automatic for users that request it?

This sounds like a great feature! I searched on the Yari repo (the platform powering MDN) for any existing issue. I found https://github.com/mdn/yari/issues/3949 from last June and someone created a pull request to automatically redirect when the “preferredlocale” cookie is set. This PR is still open but one of the core devs said in November that this will change with the redesign.

Maybe it would be worth asking there if this is still planned.

Have a nice day,
Michael

Hello @mikoMK do you notice that your comment is dated at mar 2 which it should be around 3 days ago so around 24 april

do you see that or it just me

Yes, it’s from early March, but that’s when I wrote this comment.
Why do you think that I wrote it 3 days ago?

your comment and Niedziolka_Michal was 3 days ago as it show up in the activity in this link
https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/mdn/236

it said 3d and i never check old post unless if a new comment show up on it

before my comment it was even in around 15 post according to this link https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/mdn/236
notice there no order so i was using the default which the latest activity will show up on top

so since you said you get email for each post (not sure if you mean a comment also or not) so if get email for new comment also then could you check your email and see when yo get notified about Niedziolka_Michal comment

Only for newly created topics and I’ve delete my notification emails, but I know what happened: There was a spam message in this thread which bumped it up in the activities. I reported it and when you looked into the topic it was already deleted.

That’s all I know, officer :policeman:

officer @mikoMK :joy:
we salute you :joy:
