Stylish to Stylish (not to Stylus)

From https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/stylish/versions/?page=1#version-2.1.1 (2017-10-31):

Last legacy version, getting ready …

@amyt thanks again.

@sdevaney and colleagues: please be prepared to remove Stylish and Stylus from the finder, when Stylish becomes ready (not experimental). Thanks.

I’m suggesting a better replacement for ReloadEvery (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/reloadevery/)

For FF57, migrate to ReloadMatic (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/reloadmatic/).

It seems ReloadEvery already has a recommendation on ExtensionFinder (Tab Auto Refresh), but the latter does not really have anything in common with the original addon as far as the UI goes. ReloadMatic is a much better match as it is very similar to ReloadEvery while at the same time offers additional features.

Have you tried Scrollkey?

(sdevaney) #105

Nice recommendation! I’ve adjusted the tools.

(Graham Perrin) #106

Thanks, Scrollkey is not a replacement … in retrospect, it’s probably unfair to use this topic for things that might be irreplaceable. Sorry. I removed three of the five extensions from post 101 above.

Instead please see the list at post 35 under Concern about WebExtensions exclusive strategy from add-on authors and users;

I accept that some of these will be irreplaceable. For posterity …

Thanks for including Search by Image! Here are some more legacy add-ons which could be mapped to it:

Keyboard shortcuts: direction from Mozilla to use a legacy extension

Keyboard shortcuts - Perform common Firefox tasks quickly | Firefox Help (undated) begins with emphasis, before listing the shortcuts:

Note: Keyboard shortcuts can be customized using the Menu Wizard extension.

Menu Wizard is legacy (requires a restart of Firefox) and not found by Extension Finder. More broadly , nothing is found for key – partially blocked by these WebExtensions Mozilla bugs, I guess:

Mozilla bug 1415071 - Keyboard shortcuts: direction from Mozilla to use a legacy extension

Print/Print Preview Context is a replacement for Print/Print Preview.

Full disclosure, I am the developer of Print/Print Preview Context, since the original add-on was abandoned for 2+ years.

LeechBlock NG (a rewrite of LeechBlock that uses WebExtensions) is now available on AMO. This should be the official replacement. :slightly_smiling_face:

(Graham Perrin) #111

Re: the collection at post 38 please also consider Mozilla-featured extension Print Edit WE as a replacement for Print/Print Preview. Thanks.

(Pylorak) #112

Hi, one more, Tab Auto Reload also maps nicely to ReloadMatic (which I’m the developer of). Thanks!

For Sort Tabs, Extension Finder makes a non- specific recommendation:

Another specific recommendation:

Sort opened tabs and find duplicated

Five gold stars from me https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/sort-opened-tabs/reviews/950983/ and it’s probably one of my top ten extensions for Firefox Quantum.

All Tabs Helper is useful, but it occupies the sidebar. So for example, you’ll be unable to use All Tabs Helper alongside Tab Center Redux.

I prefer Sort opened tabs and find duplicated because (as shown in the screen recording) it can be used without obscuring any of the sidebars. Also because it presents a red alert, in the toolbar of Firefox, wherever there’s exact duplication in a window.

Even though there is a snaplinks plus version available, it is a bit buggy (and alrady a year old) without any new version in sight. If there is any decent alternative that lets me select as well normal links as well as images linking to somwhere, please let me know

(Bryan L) #115

I asked the FoxyLink developer to extend his as well to allow a user to copy both the text for the url and the url to the clipboard for multiple links at the same time. Also to allow the user to choice of opening the links in new tabs.

I use multi links plus currently and have been using it for years for various things. Mostly for work.

Do you know a non-WebExtension alternative for a legacy addon? Please comment here Alternatives to legacy add-ons that don’t have direct WebExtension ports

(Anonyme Anonyme) #117

Hi! I search another addons who will be compatible with the new FF57 to replace “Download Status Bar” et “Redirect Control”. Do you have an idea?

(Golborgol) #118

Instead of Undo Close Tab I would suggest Undo Close Tab Button as an alternative to Undo Closed Tab Button. While the button might not be as pretty as the currently proposed alternative the list function for recently closed tabs is better implemented, instead of having a menu nested in a menu to see more than 6 recently closed tabs you can see a maximum of 25 directly.

At the same time I would suggest Happy Right-Click as an alternative to Right to Click and Multi-Keywords Highlighter (firefox/addon/multi-keywords-highlighter) as an alternative to Multiple-Highlighter (firefox/addon/multiple-highlighter).

Unfortunately I’m not allowed to post more than 5 links so the last two links will have to fixed.

Just got a recommendation for FoxyImage to replace Flip or Rotate Image. (FoxyImage may also be a good replacement for other image rotators/flippers but I haven’t done too much investigating there.)

Hi @sdevaney! It seems the extension finder has not been updated for a while with the latest suggestions, could you take a look?
