The page on the position property should mention that a new block formatting context is created for values absolute or fixed. I’m just not sure where to put that information.
I would add a sentence on this to the end of the third bullet under " Types of positioning", that is:
- An absolutely positioned element is…
You could also add an example under the Examples section, showing the implications of this.
