the number of css files/sheets can be sometimes overwhelming. Could not find a way to sort/filter those css files. Is there really none?

This. There’s no global search like in debugger, not even filter by filename, only Find in file. To search for some css you have to scan with your eyes, which is also hard, since css files list not even sorted alphabetically.
I am also often missing those features. There are multiple related feature requests:
- [Style Editor] Search for/Filter stylesheets by name
- Can’t search in multiple sources in the Style Editor
- The style editor needs a better way to search CSS
- The search UI in the style editor should indicate multiple results
