Firefox will "remember history", but only from May 2024

Is it possible to make Firefox remember ALL history, i.e. including pages visited before the arbitrary cutoff point of May 2024? I wanted to revisit a page I had been to before then, but despite the option of “Remember History” being selected in Firefox, the browser did not remember the URL. Since I visited the page a long time ago, I don’t remember the URL either, so it would be exceedingly useful if Firefox could remember it for me.

Why doesn’t it?
