This session is an interactive primer on how the world’s largest social data aggregators collect, use, and exploit your data every day, as well as a few best practices on how to protect your information. The advertising industry has harnessed personal data for centuries, so what’s so different today? Automation, scale, and the potential to reach billions of internet-connected individuals.
Using real-world scenarios that play out daily—from browsing social media or seeing a doctor to applying for a loan—the session will lead participants to answer the question, “Why should I care about protecting my data when I have nothing to hide?”
