year after year … decade after decade this question comes up and no one seems to give a right answer or provide a solution

firefox constantly reading/writing on hard disk
This is so unnerving, what is that thing doing ?

gigabytes after gigabytes of data being read/write
what is that thing doing ?

STOP IT !

I try to identify what is going on with rudimentary tools and it is just “profile” " profile" “sqllite” “sqllite”
Why is that bloody thing writing gigabytes to a sql database ? what is it looking for ?

Websites are basically text, pictures and forms… what is bloody firefox constantly mowing on my hard disk

No, I dont have a ton of “addons” I only have ublock origin
My system specs are irrelevant this is happening for DECADES !

You probably won’t find answers here. This forum isn’t very active and posting here isn’t a good way to reach the developers.

You forgot one thing in your list of web site contents: Scripts. Most pages load a large number of scripts including many third party scripts. And pages are large and getting larger. There are various surveys on page size, here is one: https://www.keycdn.com/support/the-growth-of-web-page-size
