In 2023, a significant portion of Firefox downloads came from unknown sources. We believe many of them came from 3rd party websites that let you download Firefox. While some websites are okay, others can put you at risk of downloading an old version or a build with the wrong locale, leading to security risks, a bad user experience, or even malicious installations.
There will be swag, and you’ll be featured in our blog if you manage to report 10 valid reports. So don’t forget to invite your friends too!

It should be a universal link. Not sure how the site decide which locale to use, though. In any case, you should be able to change the language with the switcher in the lower-right corner of the page. Otherwise, here’s a direct link to the Italian one.
Wow, this is super interesting—and a little concerning! It makes sense that downloading Firefox from unofficial sources could lead to all kinds of issues, from outdated versions to potential security risks. I’ve even seen this happen with other software—like when a friend accidentally downloaded a shady version of a moving company app from a sketchy site. Glad Mozilla is tackling this head-on.
The 3rd-party installer campaign sounds like an awesome initiative! Love that there’s swag involved too Count me in—I’ll definitely keep an eye out and report anything suspicious I come across. And I’ll spread the word and invite some friends to join in.
Thanks for always putting the user first, Firefox team. Let’s keep making the web safer together!
