How to ensure addon is not listed publicly?

Have just signed my first add on. Used the “web-ext sign” tool and have this uneasy feeling that it is now listed on the AMO site publicly. When viewing the extension on “My Addons” web page there is nothing obvious that says whether it has been published on the AMO site or not.

Is there a special step when using the “web-ext” tool to publish the addon on the AMO site or does it happen automatically? What is the best way to verify if an extension is marked for private distribution only?

Thanks.

When you sign in and visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/addon/<<id>>/edit and it does not say “View Listing” next to the “Add-on URL”, then it is not listed. Otherwise it is.

Thank you Niklas. That is reassuring.

It does seem odd that it doesn’t explicitly say “private distribution” though. Or at the very least have a button/comment about how to publish it publicly on the AMO site. It’s not clear to me how you go from private to public distribution – like an “easy” button to request public listing from that web page you mentioned.

Thanks again. Cheers.

You can not use web-ext to publish a public extension on AMO. It can only be used to sign private extensions.

That’s the bit that really wasn’t clear to me. Thanks Martin.
