Moving forward with badg.us

Thanks to @jamesboston we’ve now got daily backups for badgus and he’s currently working on getting it working with gunicorn, so we don’t have to rely on the python server.

To make badgus scale, we’d need to be able to upload and serve all of the media from S3, but before we make code changes I’d like to get input all of you and from whoever is our contact is for the badgus code.

  • Does this make sense?
  • Can we get help implementing this? (@jamesboston has said he can work on it but I’d love for someone to help him out)

@cmcavoy is that still you?

I’ve updated the bug (1088136) with the details of how I attempt to get gunicorn running and the error output produced.

Badg.us uses a Mozilla developed framework, playdoh, instead of off the shelf django. The biggest contributors to that are Fred Wenzel and Kumar McMillan. I will seek consultation.

Wenzel is great, let me know if you need an introduction. I don’t believe I know Kumar myself, but someone else might.

I was able to get in touch with wenzel. I’m looking for support in #webdev too.
