Update on Mozilla's pause from Facebook

Hi all,

At Mozilla we champion platforms and technologies that are good for the web and good for the people that use it.

We stand up for transparency and user control because they make the web healthier for us all.

That’s why we are pressing pause on any Facebook activity.

Mark Zuckerberg has now promised to improve Facebook’s settings and make them more protective, which is a great start! But we can’t help but think we’ve heard it before, so we’re still going to wait and see what materializes before we resume spending our ad dollars or time here. Mitchell just did an interview with CNN which will air shortly here in the states in the UK where she mentioned that we’ve paused all advertising already.

What does this mean for you?

Community is deeply important to us at Mozilla and we are committed to supporting your channels. We understand that Facebook is a place where you are able to grow your community, organize, and share your work and we don’t want you to feel pressured to leave. We will continue to provide regular communication with you to provide upcoming content, announcements, and best practices. Mozillagram will also continue to be available to you!

We are grateful to your contributions and respect your decisions in how you’d like to proceed with your own pages. If you have questions or comments, please reach out to me or Sierra directly.
