Updates to Moderation Guidelines

In an effort to better embody the volunteer leadership principles and to bring more transparency, continuity and consistency to the way moderation happens on Mozilla’s Discourse we have recently published a detailed set of Moderation Guidelines that clearly describe the criteria for moderation on this platform. These guidelines are discoverable through the About section.

Additionally, we have also introduced:

  • Bi-annual reviews of moderators, moderators who do not regularly review posts will be removed.
  • An open form through which any Discourse users can apply, or be nominated, to become a moderator. Applicants will undergo a CPG screening and should have the support of an existing moderator.

Any Discourse users can contribute to keeping discourse civil by flagging posts that violate these guidelines. You can see the full list of current moderators here.

I see no clarity under the link.

moderators can kick people for “trolling” so called, which is an arbitrary term with super-high abuse potential. We must address this severe issue.
