Videodownloadhelper is downloading slowly

I have a fast internet speed, with fast download and upload, but my VDH extension is downloading videos at an extremely slow speed. This started happening a couple days ago for no reason at all. I had not changed anything with my computer or modem.

A video that size usually takes less than 10 minutes to download for me.

You’re not alone, I noticed the exact same behavior myself starting a few days ago on Linux.

When I relaunch Firefox sometimes the first video starts downloading at regular speeds but then the rest are in the kb/s range.
