What is AI browser?

AI is a very controversial topic, and with recent announcement I want to understand what is AI browser? What could it do better than a normal one?

The Wikipedia article about AI browsers doesn’t mention any revolutionary features, but does mention prompt injection as a vulnerability unique to such kind of browsers.
Filling out forms still requires getting the input from somewhere, and if it could be automated (like login/password or credit card info) it already is. Summarizing contents of web searches is job of a search engine - if I go to a specific page chances are I want full content and not parts of it (but highlighting relevant parts would be nice).

There’s also a question of performance & privacy: local models will eat a lot of memory and cpu/gpu time, while remote ones will record all data. Are those features worth it?

Please refrain from posting opinions, this topic is for learning and discussing what AI browser could be.

I think that is a really good question. I suggest you take it to our feedback platform at https://connect.mozilla.org/ where the community can discuss it further.
