Addon update review process takes a long time

I uploaded the new version of addon update 7 days ago, but it still has the status “Awaiting Review” https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/addon/44b2bdefdf5a4e7887ea/versions/5882909 Previously, when I upload addon updates, the verification process took a few minutes.

Sometimes new release can get flagged for manual review and then you’ll have to wait roughly a week.
This can happen if you are adding new permissions or if you addon has now too many users (maybe like above 30k?).

I am a loyal (and mostly happy) Firefox user. Great UI and Password manager.
However, it seems that the MalwareBytes Browser Guard extension updates are being held up at your end, and this has been going on for MONTHS, with NO FEEDBACK as to why. The last update is from June 2024, and is a version 2, but other browsers have version 3.x.x. Can anyone please tell me (and MalwareBytes), how to escalate this.

They are just slow programmers :upside_down_face: .
From what I can see on their forum, they are still working on a new “Manifest V3 version”, they also mention that the virus definition files are updated regardless, so are likely not missing much:

There was a period of time where we were waiting on more feature parity between Firefox and Chromium, but now it is on us.
Due to the differences between Firefox and Chromium (Chrome, Edge etc.) engines we’ve had to take more time to ensure it is right.

Programming is hard, and not every company can afford/find the best programmers with years of experience.
It’s much more likely that existing programmer in the company will get a task of making an extension and is learning it on the way  .

Thanks for that info. I was unaware of the other topic 319586. I would expect the threat database to be updated regularly, BUT the other main function is ADS and tracker blocking (e.g. GoogeTagManager, TikTok, Taboola etc.).
My ticket with MalwareBytes hinted that the incorrect blocking of EASYLIST will be fixed in a 3.x.x release.
