Enable maildir in Thunderbird 115

Have recently installed Thunderbird 115. I cannot find where to go to switch from mbox to maildir (used to be options/advanced etc). Can anyone please help?

No, was never there. You will find it in Account Settings > Server Settings.

Please also note ** READ THIS NOW - before you post here - READ ME NOW and about Thunderbird **

That’s odd. I refer you to the following:

which references " go to
Options - Advanced - Advanced Configuration - Message Store Type for new accounts and select the maildir format."
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/maildir-thunderbird#:~:text=Click%20the%20menu%20button,File%20per%20message%20(maildir).
which references
  1. Click the menu button and choose Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced panel, followed by the General tab.
  3. Next to Message Store Type for new accounts , select File per message (maildir).

What am I missing?

Oh, and I realised my mistake about posting here and posted it in the Support forum, where I got a quick and helpful answer. Many thanks

You’re welcome. No problem.

Running TB on a windows 11 system. I have 15 years of emails stored in mbox format with a local folder structure that has been helpful. Would maildir result in any advantage in indexing and searching?

MBox gets cranky after awhile as it’s one file per folder. If you start noticing messages disappearing and manually removing the .msf index file doesn’t help, it may be time to consider converting to maildir.

TB’s implementation of Maildir isn’t exactly standard, but works much better than MBox as it’s one file per message. This especially makes versioning backups a lot happier as you’re not copying the whole folder (i.e., file containing a folder’s messages) every time, just the new messages.
