I’ve noticed a lot of fake extensions and themes, that just seem to have been added to the directory for reasons of boosting the SEO rankings of dodgy gambling sites, via the authors homepage link, which usually links to a gambling site, without any connection to what the extension is actually supposed to do, or any info whatsoever there about the extension, which is a dead giveaway that its a fake extension listing.
For example, one topic i found a lot of such extensions was in the “text snippet” saver / paster type extensions, as i’ve been trying to find a decent one that works on facebook text areas / text boxes, but finding it hard to find a decent one, but have found many of these fake extensions that claim to do this, but have virtually zero users, which is another red flag…
ive reported a few of them, but this seems to be quite a lot more of them than i can go round reporting as dont have the time, just wondering why there are so many of these, and why nothings been done about them, they are crapping up the addons directory, and should be dealt with.
here are some examples of addons “authors” doing this, they tend to just have a single extension, as thats all they need for an SEO boost…
