Favorite WebExtensions?

Hi @sdevaney! It seems the extension finder has not been updated for a while with the latest suggestions, could you take a look?

Hi @Jan7. Other than your recent recommendation (which Iā€™ll happily investigate asap) the tool should be current. However please know that we have sometimes received multiple different replacement recommendations for a piece of content do weā€™ve been selective about which to choose. Do you see a glaring omission?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/a-cookie-manager/

should be able to replace

https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/cookie-controller/

@sdevaney, thanks for clarifying. I was referring to the 4 legacy extensions shared in a previous post. While checking some other suggestions made after that post, Iā€™ve seen that none of them made it to the extension finder, thatā€™s why I thought the list may be outdated. The ones I linked to map nicely to Search by Image in terms of features.

Ā”Hola @caitlin!

FWIW https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/close-tab-double-right-click/ sort of replaces https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/double-click-closes-tab/

Ā”Gracias!

Looking for a replacement for DownThemAll!, ImTranslator and CacheViewer
Please help

One of the things I liked best about Firefox is the clean interface - and now thereā€™s a tab taking up unnecessary space at the top of each window, and my home page is full of stories about zombie ants and rats in Australia - eek! I expect I can find a way to clear the home page, but I really donā€™t like tabs, and hope youā€™ll add a version of Hide Tab Bar With One Tab - or anything else that gives me the option of removing or hiding them. Thank you.

You can hide the tab bar using some custom CSS for now: https://vimeo.com/235127546

And you can clear the new tab with the settings cog in the top right of it, or remove the elements you donā€™t like.

Colorful Tabs is a direct 1:1 replacement of Colorful Tabs (legacy)

Thanks - home page looks much better now! Iā€™ll need more time to figure out the CSS - but Iā€™m glad to know thereā€™s something out there.

Try Bulk Media Downloader and S3.Translator for your first two replacements. As for CacheViewer Iā€™m not aware of a good 1:1 replacement.

Katalon Recorder (Selenium IDE for Firefox 55+) replaces Selenium IDE and Selenium Expert.

A few hours after Firefox Quantum was released, I created a transition top ten collection. Three of ten are 57-compatible:

  • Conex, mentioned in earlier posts
  • Rename Tab Title
  • Vertical Tabs Reloaded.

Vertical Tabs Reloaded is outstanding for:

The non-webextension add-on Tab Counter which points to this find-replacements url : https://addons.mozilla.org/find-replacement/?guid=tabcounter@morac

Can be replaced by these two webextension add-ons

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabcounter-1/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-counter-webext/

Will these mappings make it into the find-replacement mapping on AMO?

FoxyTab also has a built-in Tab counter which can be turned off/on

Forget Me Not is a web-extension which make the browser forget website data, except for the data you want to keep. It can serve as a replacement for Selective Cookie Delete and Self Destructing Cookies, but adds some more things you can clean, like local storage and more.
