Firefox Mac With Cloudflare Fail

FF v131.0.1 on OSX 13.6 “Ventura”

Hi, cloudflare seems to have grown to hate FF on the Mac. Have posted over their site but not yet heard bacck.

Am wondering if anyone else is having constant turnstile captcha refreshes with any site that uses them.

It’s been getting worse as time goes on, and is now nearly always unusable.

  • Starting a new profile does not help.

  • Turning off any kind of enhanced tracking protection, pop-up blocking, setting dns over https to off, none of those help.

  • Forcing the user agent to be what a WinDoze box would have does not help.

FWIW, that Win 10 22H2 box with the same version of FF (well, 130.0, not 130.0.1) and a default profile (no turning off tracking/pop-ups etc.) works fine.

Also working fine is any other browser on Mac.

Please advise if anyone knows how to get past Cloudflare with FF on Mac.

I as well have been suffering from the same issue.
For a few weeks now, I have started to really notice, that any website using Cloudflare’s Turnstile, will absolutely not let me through.
I click box, it spins & tries, it silently fails and restarts the widget, I click box, spin&try, restart, click, spin, restart, :point_up_2:t2::white_check_mark: , :arrows_counterclockwise::no_entry: , :repeat::infinity:(∞etc∞)…

:man_facepalming:I tried everything and them some… Then spent several :clock1: hours :clock7: in DevTools trying to :mag_right: figure :eye: out :mag: what was wrong…
Today I finally found the answer in the sources in some HTML hiding in the back end, that told me my browser is out of date :spiral_calendar: . I’m not sure why it doesn’t display it for the user to see. It would’ve been nice if it would have and told me days ago what the problem was.
My Macbook is little a bit older than yours must be, and is “up to date” with MacOS 11.7.10. I assume that all Macs over a certain age using Firefox will encounter the same rejection.
My Macbook Pro was made in 2015, and I still prefer it to their latest models for several reasons. However I’m unhappy it is having compatibility issues and cannot be updated to the latest versions.
Lately more and more things I use no longer support my machine. I have everything up to date, to the latest compatible versions (MacOS11.7.10|Firefox134.0), yet I’m rejected and classified as outdated.
All started a few months ago when I finally gave in and updated to Big Sur. I lost a couple pieces of software I use. The installed version became outdated for my OS, and then when I tried to update, my new OS is too outdated for their updated software.
I feel like my OS is really the only thing that makes me incompatible. My hardware was top-of-the-line in its day and is more powerful that many new machines that are compatible with newer versions of software that deem me incompatible.

Hi, jmonStar, thanks for the reply.

Am not sure the OS itself has anything to do with it, rather FireFox, which is not produced by Apple.

Am currently on FF v134.0 (64 bit), and experiencing the same issue.

Perhaps it’s an underlying piece of software upon which FF is relying? Have updated OpenSSL to 3.4.0.22 and made sure any system certs are in place.

Anyone else having this issue? It is odd that WinDoze boxes do not seem as troubled, so that lends credence to your supposition that the OS is causing problems. Just don’t see how the OS itself could be blocking anything. (Were Safari being used, that’d of course be a different story).

Am also loathe to update the OS, but may have to bite the bullet and temporarily spin up Sonoma on a different disk to see if that helps.
