GCP Migration and downtime Sept 18th, 2023

Hello contributors, dataset users, friends and collaborators!

As change is the one constant in our world, Common Voice will be migrating our platform from AWS hosting to GCP this coming Monday September 18th. This is part of a larger hosting migration that impacts all of the Mozilla Foundation.

This means that there will be a small amount of platform downtime, for up to two hours from 08:00 UTC on Monday September 18th, 2023.

More information is available on the blog post here and as always we’re hyped to chat to you about any questions or concerns you may have.

We hope that this migration will be smooth (and have made backup plans to ensure this) but as always, if you do see anything new or strange happening please create an issue so we can try and help find out what’s gone wrong!

Hello everyone, the platform migration is going on now so the Common Voice platform will be unavailable for the next 2 hours as of this posting. Apologies for this rare but necessary scheduled downtime.

Thanks for your patience, the migration should be resolved for users. If you’re still seeing an error message, your DNS cache may need a bit more time to refresh and point to our new IP (or you can clear your DNS cache to speed things along)

We expect that platform speed may be slightly reduced for up to the next 24h as a part of this migration but please do flag an issues you find.

Thanks so much for your patience!
