On Linux, Chromium web-apps create an immersive experience for apps that wouldn’t otherwise run as “apps”. This immersion is mainly achieved by creating a desktop shortcut, and then when launching through this desktop shortcut, hiding the top part of the browser, but keeping the reload and close buttons for practicality (maybe it sounds simpler to implement than it actually is?). Examples where this works amazing for include:
- * Mastodon (FOSS microblogging platform) they officially recommend using a web-app for desktop.
- * Ghost (FOSS monetizable blogging platform). These run on Ghost for example: https://gardinerbryant.com/ -https://techlore.tech/
- Discourse (FOSS forum platform, we’re on it right now)
- Wikis (any wiki or fandom)
So having web-app support on Firefox Linux would reduce my Chromium dependency a lot.
Thankyou for reading! I hope you have a good day : )
