Is Lightning not working on recent versions of Thunderbird?

When Mozilla Firfox/Thunderbird updated, Lightning “disappeared”. I have manually updated to the most recent Lightning, but all my saved birthdays, anniversaries, appointments etc have disappeared.
Can you tell me in fairly basic terms how to recover that information?

You can install Lightning again from AMO.

For that you’ll need to contact the developers of the add-on. It sounds like the data was lost, since normally it’s just a matter of reinstalling, but the developers would be able to verify that.
I thought that by contacting Mozilla I WAS contacting the developers!!

Well, Mozilla is a big place :). Also, how official this project is is a matter of debate. At any rate, it looks like the official support location is this page.
