could someone please create an extension that allows multiple NewTab-like, tabs.
I use the Firefox Home Default New Tab and populate it with 32 shortcut icons laid out in 4 rows. I use this tab for shortcuts to the sites I use for work.
I would like to be able to open similar tabs with 32 shortcut icons which I could use for media, leisure sites, family stuff, etc.
These tabs could be named new tab 2, new tab 3, etc - or be “nameable” so they are not confused with the main home new tab.
I think a lot of people would get value from this.
thanks paid and installed Speed Dial, its turning into a helpful app for me.
I have attached a screen shot of how I had my default new tab configured. This worked well for me because 1. there is a search box 2. the icons are really quickly identifiable.
I am using the speed dial tabs for media and other stuff of interest to me but for my work tab I would prefer to have icons and definitely a search box. That’s a suggestion - feature request from me. Is it do-able?
Hello Denis,
In my addon, you can change the layout to “Dynamic list”, this will use only page favicons, so it’s pretty similar to what you have now.
Alternatively, you can use any of the other layouts and then assign page logo for each page, I’ve made a short video now that shows how to do it:
Regarding the search field - you can create a “Search dial” that can hold multiple search engines. The issue is, that when you open new tab (the dials page), Firefox will keep the focus in the address bar. So you would have click the search dial manually.
And the new version of my speed dial will add a new “Grid layout” that will be able to replicate any layout, I’m writing documentation for it right now and I’ll also make tutorial videos soon.
Look, this is what is coming in the upcoming release (hopefully in a few days):
