Perhaps normalizing is the wrong solution to the problem? Rather than normalizing afterwards, I think it’s better for speakers to record at an appropriate volume in the first place.
The problem is that the only way to tell your microphone is setup correctly is to actually record something in CV and play it back. There needs to be a microphone test function, or at the very least, some kind of UI feedback to show that the recording level is too low.
