Currently, when trying to click the action button to participate in an event, the button does not execute any action, people cannot be added as participants to community events

Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you. I was on maternity leave for the past 3 months.
I assume you’re trying to attend an event from the past? If so, it’s a long outstanding issue in the community portal. See https://github.com/mozilla/community-portal/issues/776
The workaround in the meantime is to move your event to sometimes in a future date to allow participants to attend the event. Hope that helps!
