Part of our periodic maintenance of MDN content, I’ve been reviewing the meta-documentation (under /MDN) to be sure that it is up to date. Thanks to the recent work on the Onboarding Guide, it is much more up to date than it was a few months ago.
I’ve identified a few things that need to be changed, which I will move forward with unless someone objects.
- Images to promote MDN: These are from the previous design of the site (and seem to have chunky gradients). The desktop wallpaper is 11 years old. @atopal : Can we get some replacement assets from our design vendor? (Maybe Developer Marketing would have ideas for a new wallpaper/poster.)
- There are no more untagged JavaScript pages. Therefore I will remove the task of tagging JS pages from the Getting Started article (but leave the related how-to article untouched). Any suggestions for another tagging task to replace it with?
- Are QuickLinks still a best practice? If not, I will archive the page about them.
- I’ll also archive MDN and Persona Sign-ins, Zones, and Doc Sprints, unless there is objection. I can add a section to the Troubleshooting article for what to do if you can’t login to your old (Persona) account.
- Is New Compatibility Tables Beta still relevant? Can it be archived?
- The articles Follow what’s happening and MDN community conversations seem largely redundant. I will combine them.
