Add-ons Store Categories and New Add-Ons

There must be a category for “Productivity” add-ons. And maybe some other categories, because the “Other” category consists of lots of add-ons. A category named “Other” doesn’t help either the user or the developer.

Also, the Add-ons store doesn’t help new developers at all. There is not a section for “New Add-ons”, so people can’t see the newest on the main page. In the category page it sorts the add-ons by most users, which makes sense but when I sort those add-ons by recently updated it still shows the most popular ones on top and they are not few. There are 17 recommended add-ons on top and it is not likely for a person to notice the new add-on. And, there is the search. I developed a basic note taking add-on and when I search for “note” users can see it on the 14th page. I know I didn’t come up with the most unique idea, and there are a lot of other note taking add-ons, but 14 pages are a lot. I’m testing the waters as a new add-on developer, and don’t make any money or gain anything really from the add-on, but it would give me joy to see people use the thing I developed. And, I also uploaded this add-on to other add-on pages for other browsers and there are people who saw it and started using. But on Firefox, after almost 2 months, nothing, no one. There must be some changes that can be made to help people explore new add-ons.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve taken the liberty of creating a couple of feature requests based on this post:

Can you share some additional information about the categories you’d like to see? What do you imagine would fall under “Productivity” as opposed to other possible categories (e.g. “Work” or “Education”).

Did you also change the “Badging” field in the sorting controls? By default, it’s set to “Recommended”, but if you set it to “All” the results will show all add-ons, not just the set that Firefox recommends. I just did that and had add-ons with as few as 1 user in my first page of results.
