How to get off the beta channel?

For some unknown reason, I am now on the Beta Channel. I did not ask for this and I don’t want it. I want to return to the release channel. I am not very technical and have no idea what to do about this. I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Just install the current release version from getthunderbird.com

Dear Matt, I was worried about doing this because I don’t want to lose any of my contacts or mailing lists. Do I need to back things up? And if so, how would I do that?

Thank you for your time and help.

Hi Matt, I was worried about losing contacts and mailing lists if I simply re-installed. Is that an issue? How do I back things up if that’s necessary?

At the moment there is a bug with passwords, some folks are happy
popping from 52 to 60 some just disappear. You might be caught in
that, but it is at worst a matter of restating your paswords.

Otherwise no changes are normally made to your user profile, although
upgrades can modify things. You might have issues with the Lightning
calendar, but that is something to address only if it occurs.

A backup is as simple as (with Thunderbird closed obviously) typing
%appdata% into a windows run box (windowskey +R) and then making a
backup copy of the “thunderbird” folder that is shows in the file manger
when it opens. (just validate in the properties of the folder and it’s
copy that the number of files and folders in the same. The space used
will not be, or usually is not, the same.
