Hi! My name is Flaki (which is just the shorter & more digestable version of István Szmozsánszky ).
I live in Budapest, Hungary with these lovely, fluffy folks:

Looking back to 2015 I’ve spent a good bunch of the year spreading Mozilla’s open web vision at conferences & meetups, while trying get the local Hungarian community in order, and helping the online communities with technical (and less-technical) problems.

In anticipation of 2016, I’m really looking forward to transforming the TechSpeakers program to benefit even more, and helping further to improve Mozilla’s European presence among the sprawling variety of tech communities.

I’m looking forward to learning more of the Global Campus Campaign and new directions taken for the FirefoxOS/connected devices transition to be able to align our local Hungarian Education efforts for 2016.

1) Looking back at 2015, the thing I am most proud of in my Participation at Mozilla is the Moztour Mombasa 2015 event that we conducted. The tour helped in imparting web literacy skills to over 2,500 individuals over a period of 2-3 weeks. The targeted individuals included high school & university students across Mombasa. This helped us learn that there’s indeed a greater need for such events especially for high schools.

Hi, I’m Michael and I’m living in Bern, Switzerland. On sunny days you can see the mountains from here:

  1. Looking back at 2015, the thing I am most proud of in my Participation at Mozilla is the Reps proposal on how to move the program forward, the two months as Council chair in which I learned a lot about motivating people to move forward and the Mozilla Day Switzerland which was organized by two other community members with my guidance.

  2. Looking forward to 2016, as part of this Participation Leaders Cohort, I am excited about exchanging best practices with other Mozillians and using this gained knowledge (Community Building, Community Development and also personal skills) to increase the impact of Mozilla Switzerland.

  3. The skills I most hope to build as part of the Leadership Summit would be improvement of leadership skills, learning more about frameworks regarding leadership, increase my ability to express ideas on the go (compared to listening to a discussion and then come up with ideas after the discussion), good alignment with Mozilla’s top organizational goals for 2016 and smalltalk skills (I’m being serious here, having 130 Mozillians around me could be a great opportunity to get better at this).

And I’m feeling free to answer a fourth question (you can as well if you want to!):

  1. Looking back at 2015, the thing I am not as proud of in my Participation to Mozilla is focusing on the mozilla.de community while leaving my local mozilla.ch community in a position where everything worked, but there could have been more impact if I would have helped out more there. Further my contributions to Firefox (coding) decreased a lot in the past year due to time constraints. Therefore I want to focus on the mozilla.ch community and Firefox code contributions in 2016 while giving back tools and resources every community can use to other Mozillians along the way. (Of course I will not decrease my engagement in the Reps program as long as I’m in Council, and probably not at all even after that)

1) Looking back at 2015, the thing I am most proud of in my Participation at Mozilla is the story of growth never looked back. There is a saying : “You can take one person out of Kolkata but can not take Kolkata out of that person” - that hold true for the Mozilla community here also. The community saw ups and downs in activity of contributors but still holds its head high and produced itself as more vibrant community.
