Hi!
I have been using rotate-youtube-video addon. Recently It moved some of it’s functionality behind paywall which generated 1 star reviews. Starting from today when I visit it’s page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/rotate-youtube-video/
It says:
If you’ve followed a link from another site for an extension or theme, that item is no longer available. This could be because:
The developer removed it. Developers commonly do this because they no longer support the extension or theme, or have replaced it. Mozilla removed it. This can happen when issues are found during the review of the extension or theme, or the extension or theme has been abusing the terms and conditions for addons.mozilla.org. The developer has the opportunity to resolve the issues and make the add-on available again.
The 2nd bullet says that Mozilla could have removed it. I would like to know if it was removed by author himself or Mozilla. Where can I find that such information? If author removed it then it is no big deal but if Mozilla removed it then I would like to know remove reason. The reason for asking is that I keep using the old version of addon and seeing it removed makes me worried that maybe the greed of money made author to add malicious code in addon and that triggered the removal of addon. Is there any list of removed addons where I could check if addon under question was removed for malware? Then I could check that ban list and if that addon is not listed there I know that it is safe to keep using old version.
There are currently no competitors for that addon that would offer the same functionality so if it’s not removed by Mozilla I would keep using it.
