Hi, thanks for the quick response. Firefox is running Quantum version 67.0.4 and everything worked fine until about two hours ago. If I remember correctly the last version of Quantum that I pulled up under Help was v. 67.0.2

It appears I donā€™t understand the function of this forum either. All the responses my post is surrounded by are years old discussing versions of Firefox from 2017 which would be great had it been left there. caitmuenster, are you a bot or a real person? I need to get somewhere that I can get help with a browser that is about to be deleted opting for Chrome instead. Whatā€™s the deal here?

Hi @hangfire, Iā€™m not sure I understand your question. What seems to be the problem?

@caitlin,

Iā€™m experiencing the same problem mentioned in this forum post. I have a custom extension I made and am seeing the following errors on the extension page:

  • This add-on is not available on your platform.
  • Not compatible with Firefox Quantum

When I install the web extension via add-on file into my browser the extension works just fine until I refresh the page, where it then no longer works. Iā€™m running Firefox Quantum 68.0.2.

The extension can be found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/c51245b30eab48a5a583/

How can I fix this?

You chose to host the version on your own, so the listing page is invisible to everyone but you. If you want to list it on the site, you need to upload a new version and change the Where to Host setting in the first submission step.

@jorgev

Thanks for letting me know. I just submitted it for approval.

This extension still does not work for me after downloading it via Firefoxā€™s extension website. Itā€™s important to note that this DOES work when I add it as a file and even then if I refresh the page the extension no longer works.

Have you tried testing in a clean profile?

New Profile Test

This takes about 3 minutes, plus the time to test your extension.

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Click the ā€œCreate a New Profileā€ button, then click Next. Assign a name like Aug2019, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.

After creating the profile, scroll down to it and click the Launch profile in new browser button.

Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system so we can get a clean test.

Can you install the extension from AMO into the new profile? Does the locally installed file stick around longer?

When you are done with the experiment, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (Aug2019 will remain available for future testing.)

You should have received an email with the explanation about the rejection. In short, test extensions donā€™t belong on our production site.

@jscher2000,

Thanks for the reply and advice. I tried that and the extension still does not work. Iā€™ve just about given up trying to get this to work.

@jorgev,

Do you have any advice on how I can actually make the extension public for anyone to view and debug then? I canā€™t imagine Iā€™m the only person experiencing this problem.

Signed add-on files can be self-distributed in various ways. See this article and this small test I wrote.
