Most likely, never, as Mozilla engineers really don’t want to give extensions arbitrary read-write access… and I understand them. The feed list is kept in a database; if you want to import an existing feed list, the best way is to make an OPML file with any good converter.

у меня есть “основные” ленты и их я, обычно, читаю сразу, а есть второстепенные подписки и часто я их читаю не сразу, а перетаскиваю за заголовок в специальные тематические папки на панели закладок, если вы про эти папки для закладок говорите. Но, раньше эти папки у меня были постоянные и не удалялись, а вот сами закладки из них, да, периодически или по мере прочтения удалялись, а записи в Brief все равно отмечались. Т.е. проблема, насколько мне видится, не в удалении/создании папок, а скорее в сохранении/удалении закладок в этих самых папках.
При этом “основные” ленты у меня не вложены в папки в списке лент Brief, а вот все остальные ленты вложены в разнообразные папки, но я в этом списке очень редко что-то меняю, а вот самоотмечаются записи у меня постоянно.

Та ошибка, которую я пока что поймал и исправил, сводится к самоотмечанию при создании папки для закладок (например, при использовании опции “Добавить все в закладки”, которая создаёт для новых закладок папку) – не обязательно из Brief, а из любого места браузера. Если в вашем случае папки не создаются, видимо, это не единственная такая ошибка.

“добавить все вкладки в закладки” я тоже использую, но, довольно редко и папки я раньше довольно редко создавал (сейчас я каждый день создаю папку для закладок нового дня), но самоотмечание может произойти очень быстро и, вроде как, единственное, что я за это время делаю - это создаю или удаляю закладки. Но, вообще, надо, конечно, попробовать как будет с исправлением.

з.ы. Похоже, вы нашли время заняться Brief, м.б. помимо правки багов найдёте время сделать индикатор загрузки/неудачи и сделаете название ленты вверху ссылкой?

Кстати, Денис, ещё разделители (в закладках) есть, я ими довольно часто пользуюсь. М.б. и связанные с ними события тоже неправильно обрабатываются.

Хорошая догадка, но вроде бы нет. Как ни странно, у разделителей есть URL, и он не пустой. Это сделано для совместимости с Chrome, расширения для которого считают, что всё, у чего нет URL - это папка.

Что касается индикаторов и ссылки – если будет время. Сейчас у меня приоритетом идёт очередная миграция базы данных, увы…

да может быть проблема была именно в папках. Просто раньше я не особо уж и часто с ними что-то делал и, субъективно, самоотмечание кажется более частым явлением чем операции с папками.
Кстати, с помощью юзания бага удаётся снять все отметки избранного, а вот консольная команда не работает.

Hi all,

I hope that replying to this topic is the right way of getting help about Brief.

I realized my Brief was taking up a lot of storage space in storage/permanent/moz-extension+++31eba655-0f93-4c76-9b1b-1097a14d9b5c/idb/1070927728bfrei.sqlite, as I had set it to never remove downloaded items.

I have now set more reasonable limits both in Remove downloaded items after, and in Store no more than… however the size of the above data base does not seem to change, even after a couple of reboots. How do I clean it up?

Mr. Lisov, it turns out that I had an OPML file lying around, so I restored my feeds from that. However, my folders appear in Bookmarks view but not in Brief itself. Also, the “Organize” button doesn’t work (at least for me). How do I make
the folders visible in Brief, or is that capability not there yet?

Hello! I’m very sorry, this is a problem in Brief I’ve been neglecting since the initial 2.5 release. I plan for 2.5.6 in a few weeks which will fix it.

Have you imported the OPML using Brief’s Options -> Import feeds... menu option? This sounds weird as in Brief 2.5 it should not create them in bookmarks, only add feeds to the feed list.

Version 2.5.5 - Firefox 59.0.2

After installing Brief, it created a random number of blank feed entries. Even more visable after pressing organise. Then when clicking on the blank placeholders, more are generated randomly below your click. I cannot delete any of them properly, even though a context menu is shown on right click. New feeds show beneath all folders / feeds (where ever they are) and the structure remains after uninstalling the addon and removing the folders “\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\storage\permanent\moz-extension+++b82724ca-56d8-4fc9-9549-192a3f79986d” and “\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\browser-extension-data\brief@mozdev.org” regardless.

How odd. I do have some feeds in my bookmarks, but surly they should not cause this issue.

Wow, looks weird! Could you please try to export feeds and check whether these strange things are there (or just paste the exported file somewhere to see)?

I’ll look into this. For now, note that Brief 2.5 has no access to Live Bookmarks and uses a separate feed list, which you can import from an OPML file and/or subscribe manually with the Brief page action icon in the address bar.

Приветствую! В выпадающем списке “Подписаться на эту ленту новостей, используя” пропал Brief, подскажите как это исправить? или как можно быстро подписываться на новости? А то через импорт и экспорт в ручную править долго. Переустановка Brief не помогла. Проблема появилась недели две назад. Firefox.

Possibly a stupid question… how do I add an individual feed?

I’ve imported all my feeds from my old feed reader, which used a folder in the Firefox Bookmarks hierarchy (All Bookmarks / Bookmarks Menu / RSS Feeds). If I delete a feed from Brief, it doesn’t delete the feed from that folder - and if I re-subscribe, it re-adds it to the same folder, but not to Brief.

Basically, Brief seems to be getting its RSS/Atom feeds from somewhere different from where Firefox wants to put them. How do I fix this?

Brief 2.5.5, Firefox 60.0.1, MacOS 10.11.6

Using FF60. Brief RSS feed working well until about 27 May 2018. All feeds have disappeared but are still bookmarked. Brief will not refresh. Any ideas why?
I’m in the UK could it be anything to do with GDPR coming into operation?

I’ve been experiencing a lot of problems and some steps I have taken to try to solve them.

Problem: Bugs When Deleting Feeds

Background
Let’s say our feed has 1000 items. If you click on a specific feed, let’s say “MySite”, and you want to delete the feeds from MySite you can either: Press ‘t’, manually press x, or press the ‘empty feed button’.

Problem:

If we press and hold the ‘t’ button to delete the feeds it works, but eventually i’d say like 10 seconds in it will either: 1) stop deleting the feeds or 2) stop deleting from the top. In other words if the deletion starts from the first feed row, it will jump stop deleting from row 1, and go to row 2. And so on. Sometimes it will also just stop deleting in general.

Sometimes it fails to empty the feed. Let’s say MySite has 1000 feeds. Three things will either happen: 1) It will delete a large portion of the feeds (like 600/1000), and have some remaining ones that are not deleting. Upon pressing the button (I believe it’s automatically book marking the remaining feeds) sometimes the feeds will be bookmarked automatically.
