I just checked with the build engineering team and we are in the process of moving nightly builds to a new system. They should be back on track soon. We do have new nightly builds on staging, but given these might not be ready for production it is best to wait unil archive.mozilla.org updates.
Either way, the project is not over! Quite the opposite, we are always looking for contributors that are willing to spend some time to help us out, and are also hiring staff to make sure there is someone to support them.
Thank you for the information, Philipp. I just checked and the latest build is still 21-Mar-2018, a whole month ago, Would I be interested in helping out? With development? I could if it were written in Java. That’s just the language I have been using the past 20 or so years. I’m too old and tired to switch now I can continue to use Daily and to report any problems I see, however. —Mark
Hi Mark. Thunderbird is written mostly in JavaScript and C++, and the build system is a mix of various things including python. We don’t have any Java in there, but with 20+ years of background in programming it shouldn’t be terribly difficult to understand other languages. We can always use help, let us know if you want to get involved further!
