What can new users do?

New users have their permissions restricted for their (and everybody else’s) safety, here’s how that works.

In the first 24 hours

Users below Trust Level 2 whose account has been created in the last 24 hours cannot:

  • Reply more than 10 times
  • Create more than 3 topics
  • Create a new topic more often than every 2 minutes
  • Post more often than every 30 seconds

Trust Level 0

Users at Trust Level 0 cannot:

  • Send personal messages to other users
  • Flag posts
  • Post more than 5 images in a post
  • Post any attachments
  • Post more than 5 hyperlinks in a post
  • Post more than 3 hyperlinks to the same host
  • Mention more than 2 users in a post
  • Reply more than 3 times in a single topic with no replies from other users
  • Create a new topic more often than every 2 minutes
  • Post more often than every 30 seconds

Trust Level 1 and beyond

Users can get to Trust Level 1 by:

  • Entering at least 5 topics
  • Reading at least 5 posts
  • Spending a total of 10 minutes reading posts

Once there, and after 24 hours of account creation, all the above new user restrictions are lifted.

We try to detect trusted mozillians and remove these restrictions automatically. If you think your account has been missed please email discourse-admins@mozilla-community.org.

before all, (new) users cannot place an obvious FAQ under FAQ.

WTFAQ? Are these ACTUAL, real world f.a.q. or curated questions selected for maximum political correctness?

This is what I – for one – very often ask myself over all those FAQ.

Also you do – very deliberatly – not mention how the TL gets reduced over censored posts, setting up a principle of fear in the community.

None of that we had in the old mailing list that »parties« removed in 2020.
