Why was Calomel deliberately blocked from Firefox?

I used Calomel quite often to verify the safety and
security of sites, but now I find it is not compatible
with the current version of Firefox and that it is
a deliberate attempt by the devs.
Why? What purpose could possibly be served by blocking
users from knowing the security of the sites they visit?
Thank you!

It looks like the developers weren’t able to update Calomel in time to be compatible with the Firefox 57 release. Would you be interested in reaching out to them and asking about their update status?

On Calomel’s listing page, the developers suggested using Firefox’s Network Security tab to retrieve the same TLS information the add-on was collecting:

To use Firefox’s Network Security tab:

  1. “Ctrl-Shift-Q” to open the Network window
  2. Load or re-load the web page
  3. Click on the top HTML document
  4. Choose the “Security” tab in the right hand window

According to their webpage, the latest version of
Firefox, Quantum, has changed several items that make
it impossible for Calomel to work.
This is the fault of Firefox devs, who apparently
made the changes without consideration for breaking
addons.
Thank you!

I tried the Ctrl-Shift-Q and got nothing! Nor is there anywhere else I can find it.
