Install an unlisted extension in Firefox Android

Hi,

I would like to propose a beta version for Android of my extension. I don’t want to make it public, because it’s temporary (when the version is stable, it will be published with the desktop version).

I have created an unlisted addon in Firefox Browser Add-ons and I have a signed XPI file. But I can’t install it in Firefox Android.

Can I install an unlisted extension in Firefox Android?

Hey there @regseb, my understanding is that as long as your extension has been signed by AMO, it should be installable regardless if it is an unlisted. I’ll see if I can confirm.

I have found answers in other discussions:

At the moment Firefox for Android only supports installing add-ons directly from addons.mozilla.org; attempting to install an add-on from another site will end up downloading the XPI file. That said, there is a developer/poweruser feature that allows users to install a locally saved XPI file. See this Reddit thread for details.
