It’s so frustrating that there are many users writing low rate reviews just for complaining bugs or requesting features.
Even if I did fill the support site field in edit listing, and also mention the support link in add-on description, users still love to write a comment with low rate for bug complains.
As I noticed before, the developer of Tab Mix Plus intentionally wrote some code in his extension to add a “Report a Bug” button in its page. I agree that it could be a good idea to avoid users abusing the review.
Will there be a native “Bug Report” button? I don’t want to plug some hacking in my add-on to do this…
This could help with decreasing the amount of bug reports in reviews a little, but I honestly believe it’s not a complete solution by far; not to sound discouraging, but in practical terms I don’t believe it would make a visible difference. As you can see from TMP’s page, there are still bug reports in its reviews.
This has to do more with the user population being far too used to using “reviews” as “communication”. It’s more a matter of education rather than accessibility really.
I think the solution would be to make the support infrastructure (you can provide an e-mail or a website for that) more prominent when people are writing a review, for example letting them send an e-mail directly from the review form. That’s probably a bit drastic and is prone to a whole new category of errors, however it is the extreme way of doing it. I would definitely welcome a more prominent placement for the support info.
