Hello friends.
Huge thanks to Chris Mills @chrisdavidmills and the MDN team for creating and maintaining a brilliant roadmap for learning front-end development.
Friends, I have a few questions, I apologize if they seem ridiculous or they already have answers.
Questions:
The section presents topics for learning and how much time they will take to master the material.
Question: Is reading time counted separately from exercise time?
Question clarification:
For each section, hours are indicated, in the format:
(15–20 hour read/exercise)
Does this mean that you need to allocate 15 hours for reading and 20 hours for exercises, or is it the total number of hours together, where reading and exercises are already included in these 15-20 hours?
p.s.
I understand that there is no need to hurry, and you need to devote all your free time to knowledge and practice as much as possible. However, I would just like to know for sure in order to properly plan my training day by day.
Question:
Do I need to follow links within an article?
Question clarification:
In each article, there are links to materials, they can lead to some other materials.
Inside there is a full description of the article with links to HTML, elements, etc.
Does this mean that you need to click on these links within the current article, or will the explanation on these tags and topics be developed further where they can be found separately within the framework of some other article?
I’m pretty sure the hours are meant as the total time for reading and doing the exercises. You will probably spend most of the time for the assessments at the end of the module. Probably the best thing would be to work through the first module and see how long it takes you personally. Then, you’ll be able to better estimate the time you’ll need for further exercises.
Generally, I would say you don’t have to read these linked pages. They are explained during the lessons. Mostly those are links to glossary entries with short descriptions of what is explained in the article or they are element pages like <p> which will explain all the possibilities an element has. Mainly the information on the module page itself is enough to get you started.
I hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions.
Hello.
Thank you very much for your reply, Michael.
Yes, you are absolutely right, despite the approximate estimate of time, it will be much better to estimate it yourself after going through several modules and take something in between to try to plan your training further. While any planning is good, sometimes a module can take longer to parse if I get stuck on something because I don’t understand it right away.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, it really means a lot to me. Take care of yourself and good luck to you.
Sorry for my English, there might be some errors somewhere (I’ll work on it).
No need to be sorry. I’m also a non-native speaker. As long as we understand each other everything is fine. And otherwise we just ask for clarification.
