Volume Master add-on disabled (Acceptable Use, Harassment), appeal page says it can't be appealed

Hello all,

My extension Volume Master (add-on ID 3015797) was disabled after a manual review prompted by a third-party report. The email cites Acceptable Use, specifically Harassment, but does not say which content was found to violate the policy.

Reference: 5f9ee69b-a033-4200-9f5f-76f5d0ed8d74

I filed an appeal on 28th September and have not received a response. When I reopened the appeal link, it now shows “Appeal reviewer decision” and “This decision can’t be appealed.” I did not receive any email with an outcome, so I do not know whether the appeal was reviewed and rejected or is still pending.

What the extension does: it adjusts audio volume and applies simple bass and voice equalizer presets for a single tab. It has no user-generated content, messaging or social features, makes no network requests, and declares no data collection.

Could someone help me out with this?

Thank you.

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. I am sorry for the confusion here.

You did the right thing to file an appeal.

The “This decision can’t be appealed” message shows up because you have already filed an appeal for this decision, so it doesn’t mean it has been reviewed or rejected.

When a reviewer gets to it, you will receive a new email with the outcome.

Thank you!

Hi Christos, thanks for the quick reply and for clarifying that.

I have since received a second decision email for the same add-on, reference 01a1354a-f3a5-7550-9e97-ce2fb2774d14. It says my content does not adhere to Mozilla’s policies, but the list of policies is completely empty and no content is named in the email. I have filed an appeal for it as well.

This second notice also says installed users may no longer be able to use the add-on, while the first said they could keep using it. Could you confirm whether the add-on has been blocklisted?

Could you also tell me which specific policy and which content these two decisions are based on?

Thank you.

Hi there!
I just checked and the policy violation is the same:
Acceptable Use, specifically Harassment: This content does not comply with Mozilla’s prohibition of content that harasses others. (See https://www.mozilla.org/about/legal/acceptable-use/.).

I will let the reviewers know about the broken email and ask whether they could include more information in their review.

Thank you
